“The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.”
Steven Spielberg
No matter how old you are, you probably remember at least two school teachers: the best teacher you had, and (obviously) the worst one. I remember my high school literature teacher. I don’t remember any concrete piece of literature she taught us. I don’t remember any poem or any type of rhyming. I also didn’t do that well in literature. I used to think of myself more as a person of numbers and logic, and less of that fluffy stuff anyone can interpret freely. And yet, I remember my literature teacher as the best teacher I had.
I’m not sure I can pinpoint what was in her classes that eventually left me with that feeling (and evidently the impact was less apparent in real time), but something in the spirit of these classes, in how she talked about the pieces we’ve read, maybe even in the essence of the idea that anyone can take any piece of art and see his own personal story and deepest thoughts in it, left a long lasting impression.
A good mentor doesn’t need to tie all the ends together. She should help you take the first steps. A good mentor shouldn’t set the tracks to a specific destination. A good mentor should seed the idea that everything is possible. A real mentor will not be satisfied with what you achieved. A good mentor will be amazed with what you created.
When I started to work on seempli, I wanted to created a fun game for inspiring people to be more creative in the way they see the world. It didn’t take long to realize that the core principles of seempli could be also used in a group setup and help not only the individuals of the group improve their creativity, but also help the group as a whole work better together. That’s how the Enablers Program was conceived.
The seempli Enablers Program is designed to enrich the toolbox of Mentors, Group Facilitators, Managers, and Educators, with creative open-ended activities based on the seempli platform. The ever-growing collection of Seeds for triggering creative observation on the world, in combination with the specially designed Play and Team Play Prisms, create hundreds of activities for endless discovery, creativity, and fun. As an Enabler you can use seempli to spice up any team building activity or trigger a creative process.
In the latest release of seempli we enhanced the Enabler Program with a great new tool: the Enabler Zone. Using the Enabler Zone, you now have an online work space to design your Workshops and Activities. The new Enabler Zone can be used also in real time, during the group activities, such that all the insights collected by the group appear in the Workshop context. You can present the outcome of each activity to the group and trigger a meaningful discussion based on the visual Insights.
seempli for Enablers is now a first class tool in your mentoring toolbox. With seempli you will rediscover creative mentoring, and become an inspiration for others.
