It was 2004 and I was just starting my way as a photographer. Until that time, when I thought about photography, I thought about finding beautiful places to capture. I drove for hours just to find a breathtaking view.
In one of these trips, I found myself in a vineyard. The sun was just about to set, and I wanted to capture its amazing color shining through the branches and leaves of the vines. I took some photographs, went home, and somehow forgot all about it.
Two years later, after a little break I took from photography, I browsed my archives and came across the photos I took at the vineyard. I didn’t remember where it was, or what made me stop there. But suddenly it wasn’t really important, because something new and unexpected jumped in front of me. It was a stick-figure holding flowers, looking up as if singing a serenade for his lover.
This little treasure was an enlightenment for me. It made my smile. And it was so simple, so imaginative, and right under my nose all this time. I didn’t know it back then, but this was when the idea of seempli started to take form.
