Every day we play with a creative challenge. What we create doesn’t have to be grand. It doesn’t have to be perfect. We aim to stretch our creative muscles, be playful, and have fun!
Every day we take a little journey with some unexpected turns. That’s the beauty of creativity. If you just let it, it will fill you with wonder.
The Challenge
Our creative challenge today is made of the following set. If you are familiar with the creomondi building blocks, use the set to explore, imagine, and create. Alternatively, read how we played with it for inspiration first.
The creomondi Mix
The Seed We Will Use in our Exploration
And We Are Aiming to Create…
And then…
Let’s Play
Today we play with a creomondi mix set, which means the game doesn’t follow the pattern we’ve been using until now (exploring a Playground using a Seed and creating something inspired by our discoveries).
The Inspiration Stream mix starts with writing a Stream of Consciousness fluently based on a Seed. The Seed we are playing with today is Infinity.
There is more than one way to create a Stream of Consciousness. You can use text or doodles or mix both. You can write sentences or even coherent paragraphs or just standalone words. Whatever method you choose, the important thing is to avoid planning and thinking in advance and just write or draw fluently without stopping.
I’ve created this mini mind-map with a few levels of associations that started with the word Infinity. When I finished writing, I reread the words. Few of them caught my attention more than others — Space, Sky, Black, and Creation were some of them. And then I went to work.
The next step in the Inspiration Stream game is to create a visual insight, in our case, a Photograph, inspired by the stream of consciousness we have created.
So, later in the day, I went out to play in the park with my son. It was almost dark, and I still haven’t captured any photographs. I had my list of words in mind when I saw a street light illuminating two trees that were close to it. It looked like nothing on my list until I imagined that scene processed. I had a vision in my mind (which was inspired, by the way, by my discovery from Daily Creativity #0001). I’ve captured this scene, and when I came back home, I managed to create this photograph.
In retrospect, it can easily be titled Infinity. However, when I first noticed the street light and the trees, I wasn’t thinking of that. I was inspired by the associative words I wrote down earlier today. And that’s the beauty of inspiration. It’s everywhere and always surprising.
Now, It Is Your Turn…
Don’t follow my steps! Take the set of cards and play with them. Use them as a guide and not as a set of rules. Let your imagination lead the way. Don’t dismiss your ideas.
Have fun! Be creative!
