Daily Creativity #0022

Every day we play with a creative challenge. What we create doesn’t have to be grand. It doesn’t have to be perfect. We aim to stretch our creative muscles, be playful, and have fun!

Every day we take a little journey with some unexpected turns. That’s the beauty of creativity. If you just let it, it will fill you with wonder.

The Challenge

Our creative challenge today is made of the following set. If you are familiar with the creomondi building blocks, use the set to explore, imagine, and create. Alternatively, read how we played with it for inspiration first.

The Playground We Will Explore

The Seed We Will Use in our Exploration

And We Are Aiming to Create…

Let’s Play

Today, we are playing in nature. If you can go out to nature in its purest sense, it would be great. But even if you don’t have the time to a rural location, you can play in an urban nature island, regardless of its size. That’s what I did today when I went out to explore the nearest park.

The Seed we shall take with us for our creative exploration is the Reaching Out Seed. Unlike more concrete subject Seeds, this one is a genuinely open-ended phrase. You can take it wherever you like, or just wait for something to happen during your creative exploration.

During my walk in the park, I saw this shadow on the grass. It looked like a black cloud lying on the grass. I will let you guess what has created the shadow, but I will hint that it wasn’t a cloud. I took a photo of it and started to think about a creation inspired by it.

I have to admit that my first idea, and one I haven’t given up on yet, was to write a children’s story about a cloud that found its way to the ground. But today’s game set included a different Insight Type, so I had to think about a Sculpture inspired by my discovery in the park.

I wanted to recreate the shadow artificially and to do that, I started to play with pieces of cotton wool and a light source. The result was far from what I had imagined and hardly a sculpture. At that point, I inverted the idea, and instead of creating a shadow, I explored the lighted cloud. It was perfect and intriguing as it glowed in midair.

Now, It Is Your Turn…

Don’t follow my steps! Take the set of cards and play with them. Use them as a guide and not as a set of rules. Let your imagination lead the way. Don’t dismiss your ideas.

Have fun! Be creative!
