Daily Creativity #0024

Every day we play with a creative challenge. What we create doesn’t have to be grand. It doesn’t have to be perfect. We aim to stretch our creative muscles, be playful, and have fun!

Every day we take a little journey with some unexpected turns. That’s the beauty of creativity. If you just let it, it will fill you with wonder.

The Challenge

Our creative challenge today is made of the following set. If you are familiar with the creomondi building blocks, use the set to explore, imagine, and create. Alternatively, read how we played with it for inspiration first.

The Playground We Will Explore

The Seed We Will Use in our Exploration

And We Are Aiming to Create…

Let’s Play

Our exploration Seed today is Remake. With this Seed in mind, we shall look around us for inspiration to design an Amusement Park Ride, no less.

I played at home today, and when I thought about the Seed while looking around me, the jigsaw puzzle my son and I are working on caught my eyes (well, it is, after all, in the middle of our living room). The connection to the Remake Seed is evident in retrospect: a jigsaw puzzle is a picture that was broken to pieces, and our task is to remake it.

With this discovery in mind, I had a vision of a new amusement park ride. Imagine giant pieces of a jigsaw puzzle floating in a vast pool. Each part is big and robust enough for a person to stand on, and each piece can be navigated, like a mini boat. Now, this is a collective ride, so the group’s goal is to remake the picture: to navigate all pieces so they perfectly fit together to complete the jigsaw puzzle.

Is it feasible? I’m not sure. But that’s not the point. The idea of a collective challenge (and not a trivial one) in an amusement park really appeals to me. I tried to recall if I ever came across such a collective ride, and I’m not sure that I have. In any case, I took a couple of minutes to try to capture my idea visually. Maybe, someday we will build it on full scale 🙂

Now, It Is Your Turn…

Don’t follow my steps! Take the set of cards and play with them. Use them as a guide and not as a set of rules. Let your imagination lead the way. Don’t dismiss your ideas.

Have fun! Be creative!
