The Best Thing Ever

Almost nothing compares to how it feels to create something. It doesn’t have to be something big. It doesn’t have to be something that will amaze the world. It just has to be something which wasn’t there before. Almost nothing is better than staring at your own creation. A simple doodle, a photograph, or a short story — whatever it is, it is yours — something you imagined and realized. You might have an urge to share it with others, or you might want to lock it in a drawer — but whatever you do with it, you will always know it is there because of you.

Can you see something which isn’t there?

The process of observing the world is amazing. It starts optically with light reflected by objects captured in our eyes. But that’s just the beginning. It is our mind that does all the real work from that point onward: interpreting the signals, associating it with familiar memories and experiences, and sometimes even complementing the picture with things which aren’t really there. It’s magical. It’s mysterious. And, it’s always fascinating.
